The Rou Estate is an area of land situated in the north-east of the Ionian island of Corfu. This unique and exclusive heritage site benefits from the most spectacular 270 degree views overlooking Albania, and provides a sanctuary for guests to relax and escape from the stresses and strains of modern life.
The Rou Estate consists of 16 houses and outbuildings that were built over 200 years ago. The distinctive Corfiot design of the village and its traditional concept makes it one of the last remaining of its kind on the island.
In 2005, British Architect, Dominic Skinner and his dutch wife Claire purchased the abandoned hamlet of Rou and embarked on the development and restoration of the entire village back to its former glory. By enhancing and sympathetically restoring the architectural quality of the existing buildings, the historic village has been exquisitely re-established, creating the perfect setting of total tranquility and a feeling of individuality.
The Estate provides a unique combination of new and old; private luxury houses with modern comforts, surrounded by traditional Corfiot architecture, all set within an area of outstanding natural beauty providing a very distinctive holiday destination. In addition to the houses, there is a restaurant, a health retreat complex containing treatment rooms, a mini gym, a large pool and yoga facilities, all surrounded by an exceptional, award winning Mediterranean garden.
The environment ensures exclusivity and exceptional luxury that surpasses the standard currently found anywhere on Corfu. The Rou Estate is also able to provide activities and facilities for corporate events, cooking courses, health retreats, painting courses as well as walking trips.
